Obituary for Montoya

Celso Montoya, born August 17, 1904 in Cuba, NM, passed away on March 15, 2000, following an illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nemesina; one son, Gilberto; one daughter, Linday; one grandson, Gerald; and four brothers, Maclovio, Manuel, Patricio and Antonio. He is survived by five children, Celso Montoya Jr. and wife, Adelina of Nogales, AZ, James Montoya and wife, Barbara of Las Vegas, NM, Helen Salazar and husband, Acasio of Cuba, NM, Mary Lou Perea and husband, Carlos of Tucumcari, NM, and Ethel Baca of Cuba, NM. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anselmo Montoya and Albert Montoya; and two sisters, Katie McKnight and Susie Gurule. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, 1:00 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cuba, NM. Interment will follow at the Cuba Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Baca, Tammy Salazar, Jake Salaz, Perry Montoya, Frankie Perea, and Manuel Montoya. Honorary pallbearers will be James Montoya, Eustacio Casaus, Eustacio Chavez, Loe Chavez, Larry Cowthon, and Melody Brumley. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street, Gary F. Santillanes, CFSP.
