Obituary for Stierwalt

Virginia Ann Stierwalt, 63, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, December 29, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Albuquerque; children, Robert Mark Stierwalt and wife, Barbara of Rio Rancho, and William Andrew Stierwalt and wife, Kathy of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Samantha Renee Stierwalt and Melissa Kay Stierwalt, both of Rio Rancho and Sarah Katherine Stierwalt, David Andrew Stierwalt and Mathew Robert Stierwalt, all of Indianapolis; brother, Robert Raymond of Florida; and sister, Katie Stirman of Florida. Virginia lived on her parentsfarm in Lafayette, IN during her childhood helping with the farm work and helping her father raise Christmas Trees. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School in Lafayette, graduating in 1955 with a straight A grade point. She enrolled at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis in September 1955 where she met her future husband, Robert. They were married on September 15, 1956 in Lafayette, Indiana. Her husband's employment on the railroad took them to several states: Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York and Michigan. Virginia attended Penn State University for two years while living in Altoona, PA and again was on the Dean's list with a 4.0 GPA. While living in Indiana she finished her schooling, receiving a degree in English Literature from Indiana University and graduating at the top of her class. She was accepted by the MENSA Society and retained membership for a number of years. She and her husband traveled much during their years together, spending time camping and RVing in their trailer throughout the United States. They also made trips to England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain. Virginia loved England and they visited there and in Scotland eight times, sightseeing from the north to the south and from the east to the west. With her love for English Literature her husband said it was like traveling with a treasure trove of English history. She and her husband retired in 1990 and moved to Albuquerque where they built a new home on the west side and have resided there since that time. She was a member of the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church where they attended regularly. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a Christian woman who loved the Lord. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., January 3, 2001 at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Road NW with Dr. Robert Clary officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul, NE. Pallbearers will be Dr. Al Chatfield, Frank Delillo, Rick Furlano, Gary Rich, Glen Lemon, and Doug Thomas and Rev. Peter Denlea. Friends may visit Tuesday, January 2, 2001 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Road NW.
