Richard P. Butler, 65, a resident of Albuquerque, and formerly of Ottumwa, Iowa died of cancer December 25, 2000 at the V.A. Medical Center in Albuquerque. Richard was born January 9, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Ray and Hazel Butler. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1953, and attended the University of Iowa. He served in the U. S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S. Oriskany. He was also a member of the Navy Drum and Bugle Corps. His mother, Hazel Butler; and a sister, Linda Workman both of Ottumwa, Iowa; two nephews and a niece survive Richard. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Butler. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Wednesday January 3, 2001. Arrangements by Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE (323-9000).
