Obituary for Parnegg

Janee Sprecher Parnegg, 76 years old, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away 3:00 a.m. on May 5, 2000, of complications after surgery. She is survived by her husband, Donald"Dan" Daniels; her only son, Peter Parnegg, his wife, Mary Sure Walsh; her two grandchildren, Payton and Miles Parnegg; her nephew, Tim Haynes and his wife, Anne Packard Haynes; and her sister, Nancy Haynes. An avid gardener, florist, healer, Christian spiritualist, and author, Janee brought joy to nearly everyone she touched. Having been active in AA for nearly 40 years, she was gifted in helping people overcome alcohol and substance abuse, as well as family crises. Born in Albuquerque, at 314 12th St. NW in 1924, Janee attended Sandia Girls School and UNM. She became a professional portrait photographer for Dick Kent Photography in the 60's. She then opened and operated Jim Kelly Counseling for seven 7 years with two partners, specializing in employee assistance programs and the treatment of alcoholism and substance abuse. Later she collaborated in the authorship of a number of books with the renowned religious author, Ernie Larson, the most notable of which is"Recovering Catholics." She will be missed by all whose lives she so generously touched. The family would like to extend deepest thanks to University Hospital, Dr. Rob Zuniga, and Dr. Mark Wilson, and the extraordinary nurses who brought the most humane and compassionate care to Janee in her final hours. The Memorial Service has been changed to be held May 13, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW.
