Obituary for Martinez

Luther Frank Martinez Sr., 84, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1933, died Saturday, May 6, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cordelia Lily S. Martinez of the family home; sons, Luther F. Martinez Jr. and wife, Alice of Albuquerque, Lavern E. Martinez and wife, Francie of Denver, CO, LeRoy D. Martinez and wife, Ines of Mission Viejo, CA and Lemuel L. Martinez of Bernalillo; daughter, Linda G. Alvarado and husband, Robert of Denver, CO; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, David S. Martinez and wife, Virginia of Independence, MO; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence L. Martinez. Mr. Martinez was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 25 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, auto mechanics, remodeling, and was a fan of the Colorado Rockies and the New Mexico Lobos. He was a WWII Army Veteran of the South Pacific, earning a Purple Heart. He was a Member/Deacon of Hoffmantown Baptist Church, East Mesa Civitans, and VFW Post #401. Services are pending. Burial will follow the services at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luther F. Martinez Jr., Lavern Martinez, LeRoy Martinez, Lemuel L. Martinez, Joe Martinez, Ralph Martinez, and Robert Alvarado. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
