Obituary for Carmignani

Elisa Carmignani, 94, former longtime resident of Silver City, and a current resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully on Monday, Mach 27, 2000 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Camille and Stewart Burgess, where she was lovingly cared for during her lengthy illness. She lived her life for her family and others, and was a friend to everyone she met and ever knew. Elisa was a beloved great-great-grandmother, great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother. Elisa moved to Albuquerque from Silver City in 1962 and maintained her home until the age of 93. Elisa was preceded in death by her parents, Alcario and Ramona Acuna from Silver City; her husband of 54 years, Albert Carmignani in 1990; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by three sons, George Carmignani and wife, Susan and Albert Carmignani and wife, Theresa, all of Albuquerque, and Charles Carmignani and wife, Phyliss of Downey, CA; and by five daughters, Betty Holguin of Los Angeles, CA, Lucy Ogas and husband, Frank of Silver City, Dolores Vasquez and husband, Juan of el Paso, TX, Camille Burgess and husband, Stewart and Ramona Plummer and husband, Tom, all of Albuquerque. She is fondly remembered by 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Elisa is also survived by two sisters, Hope Arrington and Lily Carillo of Silver City; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Richards of Albuquerque and Mary Crenshaw of Tallahassee, FL; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Robert Carmignani of Albuquerque and Lawrence Carmignani of Artesia, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Special recognition is extended to daughter, Betty and granddaughter, Irene Ybarra, who helped care for Elisa during her time of need. The family also thanks the staff of St. Joseph's PACE for the care and kindness given to Elisa. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., today, at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with a Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Rev. Richard Olona as Celebrant. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, in Santa Fe at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Henry Holguin, Billy, Frank and Stephen Ogas, Craig and Jon Carmignani, John David, Jim and Joe Vasquez and Charles Albert, Albert Paul, and Anthony Carmignani.
