Fred E. Swartz, 89, an Albuquerque resident since 1974, died Monday, October 2, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth; his daughter, Phyllis Wilson of Albuquerque; his son, Karl and wife, Linda of Sierra Vista, AZ; two brothers, Don and Max of Ohio; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his friends at the Albuquerque Kidney Center. Born July 16, 1911, Fred was a teacher, coach, and administrator in the Ohio public school system for 35 years, and a professor of education at Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, OH for five years. A graduate of Kent State University (BA and MA), he also attended Western Reserve and Columbia universities. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta, Sandia Kiwanis Club, and Monte Vista Christian Church. Known as a true"charmer", (ask his friends at the Albuquerque Kidney Center and Health South Rehab!), Fred was a gentleman in every sense of the word. Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 5, 1:00 p.m., at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852; Monte Vista Christian Church, or a charity of choice. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mr. Swartz, 891-8200.
