Obituary for Walker

Remmel Henry Walker, 81, born July 19, 1919 in St. Joe, AR, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2000. Mr. Walker became a resident of Albuquerque in 1939. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne Davis Walker; daughter, Ginger Walker Gallegos and husband, Albert; son, Joseph Delta Walker, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Monique Gallegos Diekroeger of Atlanta, GA, Janelle Gallegos of Little Rock, AR and Levi Walker of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Matt and Sarah Diekroeger, both of Atlanta, GA. Mr. Walker served in the Navy during WWII. When he returned from the war he established a business that made him well known throughout his community for over 40 years, Walker Plumbing Company. Mr. Walker was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. Remmel was a 32nd degree, KCCH, Scottish Rite Mason. He served as Worshipful Master of Temple Lodge #6 in 1977, and received his 25year pin in 1994. Remmel devoted many years supporting Ashlar Assembly #58, International Order of Rainbow for Girls. He was a past Rainbow Dad and a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color recognizing his devotion to Rainbow. Remmel was also a past Commander of Kadosh and a past President of the Albuquerque Scottish Rite Club. He was a Shriner and served many years on the Azyam Unit. At the time of his death, Mr. Walker also was a member of the Albuquerque York Rite Bodies and a member of Adah Chapter #5, Order of the Eastern Star.
