She is survived by her daughters, Susanne Rex of Albuquerque, Vicki Evans of Dover, TN, and Sarah Devous of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Joanna Hendrichsen and Carrie Zellers, both of Albuquerque, Kathryn Hawthorne of Oklahoma, Karen Hawthorne of California and Calvin Hawthorne of Roswell; and great-grandchildren, Raven Zellers of Albuquerque, Jennifer and Carmen Hawthorne, both of California, Kristen, Jimmy, Krystal, and Sheryl Hawthorne, all of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis H. Schulz; and daughters, Carol Schulz, Sally Schulz, and Sherrill Elizabeth Hawthorne. Mrs. Schulz was born Mary Phillips Fry, in Abilene, TX on May 2, 1913, where her father, Dr. W.F. Fry was Head of Bible Chair at Hardin-Simmons University. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1930 and moved to Austin, TX, where she attended the University of Texas for two semesters. Mrs. Schulz was joined in marriage to Hollis Henry Schulz, of Austin, TX on March 7, 1935; her father, Dr. W.F. Fry, performed the ceremony. They lived in Austin and in San Antonio, TX, where her husband had a career in sports. During World War II, Mr. and Mrs. Schulz lived in Bonham and Sherman, TX. They adopted their daughter, Sherrill Elizabeth while living there. A career move with the Veterans Hospital brought the Schulz's to Albuquerque in 1950. Mrs. Schulz remained a homemaker for many years, and then began a career as a salesperson-decorator for The Maple Shoppe on Lomas Blvd. After seven years with The Maple Shoppe, Mrs. Schulz launched her own decorating-antique business,"The Country American House" on San Mateo; she later moved her business to Golden, NM. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years, working mainly with teen and youth groups. She was a member of the Albuquerque Christian Women's Club, American Institute of Decorators, and was an active participant in local school"career days". Private interment will take place next to her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Because she always said,"give flowers to the living", it was her desire that remembrances be given to Inlow Youth Camp of NM, c/o Baptist Convention of NM, PO Box 485, Albuquerque, NM 87103.
