Obituary for Pitt

Charles"Charlie" Martin Pitt Jr., 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Saturday, March 11, 2000. He was preceded in death by his domestic partner, Kenny Anderson. He is survived by Kenny's grandchildren, Nat and Robbie Pendergraft, Samantha Sedgwick, Michael and Meisje Anderson; and numerous friends. Charlie served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a C-47 pilot with Troop Carrier Command. Following active duty, he served in the reserves earning the final rank of Captain. He received his B.S.B. Degree in 1946 from Oklahoma City University, was a Certified Internal Auditor, and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Charlie worked as an auditor for 30 years. His latest audit position was with the Internal Audit Department of The University of New Mexico from 1977 until his retirement in 1985. He lived at 1609 Princeton until June of 1999, when he moved to Westland House Assisted Living Facility. Charlie always had a good joke to give us a laugh and will be dearly missed by his friends. Services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2000, 1:00 p.m., at the University of New Mexico Alumni Memorial Chapel, on the UNM Campus. Interment will take place at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, KS. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
