James L. English, 63, of Abilene, Texas, died Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 18 at North's Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange St., with Bob G. Carter officiating. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m., Friday, August 18 at Fairview City Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St. Mr. English was born in Raton, New Mexico and reared in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Berlin Crisis. He worked for Woolco Company in Albuquerque, California and Arizona for 20 years, retiring in 1980. He married LaJuana Ingram Hill on March 31, 1975 in Portales, New Mexico. He moved to Abilene, Texas in 1993. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, I.O.F., and the America Legion. Survivors include his wife, LaJuana of Abilene, TX; two sons, Larry James English of Lubbock, TX and John W. English of Albuquerque, NM; one step-daughter, Susan Rader of Bakersfield, CA; two grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Williams of Gainesville, TX and Joyce Hill of Portales, NM; and one brother, John English of Gainesville, TX.
