Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday September 01, 2000

Tony J. Benavides, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2000. He is survived by two sons, Frank Luna of Seattle, WA and Rudy Luna and his wife, Lugie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anthony, Marie and her husband, James, Robert and Michelle; one great-grandchild, Steven Luna, son of Robert. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Now we believe that he is away fishing, gambling and dancing, the things he loved to do. While he is away, he will be missed by all family and friends. Most of all, he was the best grandfather ever. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2000. He will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Consuelo L. Benavides on Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 11:00 a.m. We love and miss you grandma and grandpa. Your loving grandchildren.
