Virginia"Mina" Smith age 79, born February 28, 1921 a life long resident of New Mexico died August 19, 2000. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fermin Smith and a son, Jesus Smith. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Arlene Joyce McCann and husband, Jerry; her brother, Romulo Barboa and wife, Maria. Her seven grandchildren, Jonathan McCann, Tanya McCann, Jerome McCann Jr, Valentino Lopez, Norbert Smith, Jason Smith and Matthew Smith. Her seven great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Jesse Chavez and husband, Anthony and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be this afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on 8th and Stover. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at the San Augustine Catholic Church, Isleta, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at the Los Padilla Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jonathan McCann, Jerome McCann Jr., Valentio Lopez, Norbert Smith, Jason Smith and Matthew Smith.
