Obituary for Short

Louis Clell Short, 83, od Edmond, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. Short was born September 24, 1916, in Waurika, Oklahoma. He served as a pilot for the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He played professional baseball for the Los Angeles Angels in the 1930s, and later coached USAAA softball, taking his team to the World Series. He moved to Edmonton from Albuquerque in 1993. Short is survived by four children, James Short and wife, Cherie of Edmond, Thomas Short and wife, DyAnne of Los Alamos, Bill Short and wife, Linda of Roseville, CA, and Linda Cobb and husband, Larry of Albuquerque; and eight grandchildren, Kermit Short of Phoenix, David Short, Christa Short, Kerri Short, and Kevin Short of Edmond, Cameron Short and Chelsea Short of Roseville, and Sean Cobb of Albuquerque. Cremation took place at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2000, at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Private interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, September 1, 2000. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, 116 Central Park Square.
