Obituary for Elicker

Theodore Sean Elicker. On the night of 29 November 2000, Theodore Sean Elicker ("Sean") lost his life after the bicycle he was riding was struck by a van. He was 30 years old and was finishing his doctorate program in chemistry at UNM. Sean was the son of Theodore and Holly (Bioleau) Elicker of York, PA; he is also survived by his sister, Gretchen; his brother-in-law, Joachim Dekker; a nephew, Noah; and his grandparents, Gladys Boileau and Harry Elicker. Sean was born on 2 September 1970 in Burlington, VT and lived most of his life in York, PA. He was the valedictorian of his high school class and was on the baseball and golf teams. Sean graduated from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte with a degree in Mathematics and subsequently obtained Master's degrees in Mathematics (Indiana University) and Electrical Engineering (UNCC). He had been in New Mexico for the past three years pursuing his Ph.D. in chemistry. Sean was a teaching assistant at UNM and the author of several scientific manuscripts. He was also a research associate at Phillips Labs and a fellow of the Santa Fe Institute. Sean was an avid athlete and participated in rock climbing, hiking, tennis, golf and weight-lifting. He was a member of the Big Brothers and Sisters of Albuquerque, the Albuquerque Men's Chorus, the Humanist Association and numerous technical and scientific societies. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
