Obituary for Russell

Estill "RUSS" Russell passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. he was born June 26, 1930 to Henry Earl Russell and Olive Darlene (Sheperd) Russell in Harrisonville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Olive Russell, his brother, Richard Russell on November 20, 1994 and his son, Michael David Russell on November 4, 1995. He served as a sergeant in the Kansas National Guard and was medically discharged in 1954. Ninety days later he was drafted into the U.S. Army by your friends and neighbors. He served two years and acquired an education in telecommunications at Fort Benning, Georgia then transferred to Albuquerque, NM. to complete his army service. He then went on to dedicate 28 more years to civil service, 16 of those years as a telephone installer at Sandia Base and seven more years as a Department of Energy maintenance and repairman. In 1985 at the age of 55, Russ retired and built a home in Caballo with his wife where he resided until his time of death. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carlie Jean Russell of the family home in Caballo NM; one daughter, Terrie Jean Henderson and husband, Sam of Flora Vista, NM; three grandsons, Jeremy Clay Henderson attending N.M.S.U. in Las Cruces, NM, Zachary Marc Henderson of Flora Vista, NM, and Adam Michael Russell; also surviving is his son, Kevin Lee Russell and wife, Heather of Erie, Pa; one brother, James Ervin Russell and wife, Evelyn of LaCygne, KS; one sister, Margaret Ottoway and husband, Walt of Ottawa, KS; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will greatly miss him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2000 from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. and on Friday November 17, 2000 from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Noon in the chapel of French Mortuary. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2000 with Rev. Julia Paulsen of the Los Lunas Assembly of god Church officiating. Casket Bearers will be Denny Hall, Randy Hall, J.W. McCans, Kenny Hall, Haskell Hall, Lynn Blaylock, and David Russell. Honorary Casket Bearers are James Ervin Russell, Kenneth Hall, Earl Hall, Gerald Hall, Sam Blaylock, Jim McCans, Max Watson, Sam Henderson and Rick Burns. Interment will follow in the Vista Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by French Mortuary of TorC, Inc. 303 Cedar St. TorC, NM.
