Obituary for Munkelwitz

Donald Munkelwitz, 61, a resident of Albuquerque since 1993, died Sunday, November 12, 2000.He is survived by his wife, Mary and four children, Brian, Jennifer, Allison, and Kevin; 3 children from a previous marriage, Donald, Karen, and Laura; in-laws, Arthur and Mildred Carroll of Roswell; and sister-in-law, Diana Munkelwitz of New York. Mr. Munkelwitz was born and raised in Long Island, NY where he lived until moving to Albuquerque. He spent four years in the United States Air Force during peace time, spending much of his time at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma working as a mechanic on military aircraft. He had several careers including respiratory therapy for over 14 years after attaining his BS degree from Stony Brook University. He was Program Administrator for a major airport radar project at Norden Systems, a division of United Technologies Corporation. One of his greatest joys in life came from being Director of Senior Affairs at St. Bernadette Parish. He enjoyed serving the seniors there and he became very involved with the Pottery group. However, the most important part of his life was his family and he will be cherished in our hearts forever. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 15, 2000, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
