Obituary for Mcguire

Cleta McGuire, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died June 9, 2000 after a seven year battle with cancer. She was born September 25, 1928 in Dighton, KS, the only daughter of the late John and Grace McKelvy McGuire. She graduated from Dighton High School, obtained a Bachelor's degree from Marymount College in Salina, KS and a Master's from Colorado State in Greely, CO. For 30 years she taught school in Kansas, Missouri, Okinawa, Germany and the Zuni reservation in New Mexico. From 1981 to 1997, she was employed by Social Security. Cleta loved to travel and had visited 60 countries. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Her sweet nature and irrepressible sense of fun and laughter will be missed by friends around the globe. Survivors include cousins, Blanche McKelvy and Bernice Hepner of Dighton, KS and Mina Zeller of Ozawkie, KS and longtime friends Peggy Cook and Nellie Burns of Albuquerque. Friends and family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff at Lovelace for their loving care, and to the residents of Park Paradise Apartments, especially, Kate, Lois, Mary, Shirley, Helene and Marge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, All Faiths Receiving Home, or a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with funeral and interment to take place in Dighton, KS at a later date.
