Obituary for Loose

Norman R. Loose, 92, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died at home June 14, 2000. He was born July 22, 1907 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn J. Loose; two sons, Val A. Loose, Cleburne, Brannon and Susan Ratcliff, Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was formerly associated with the Sentinel Tribune, Bowling Green, Ohio; Reading Times, Reading Pennsylvania; El Paso Times and El Paso Herald Post, El Paso, Texas; Radio Station KAVE, Carlsbad, NM; TV Station KROD, El Paso, Texas; Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S., Albuquerque. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #130 and the Scottish Rite Body in El Paso, TX, he was also a member of the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple in Albuquerque. Throughout his life he was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. At a young age, he built the first radio in the town of Bowling Green, Ohio. His interest in newspapers, radio, and later, television led him to an extensive career in these fields. He was the Vice President/General Manager of KAVE in Carlsbad. While living in Carlsbad he was active in civic affairs, serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce and President of the Carlsbad Rotary Club. He hosted the popular Snoop and Scoop morning radio show that originated from the roof of Corner Drug Store in Carlsbad. Norman and wife, Evelyn, moved to Albuquerque in 1960, where they lived until the present. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at the Chapel of Vista Verde, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. Cremation to follow.
