Obituary for Baldridge

Loretta Baldridge, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000. She is survived by her son, David Baldridge of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Kirsten Baldridge of Syracuse, NY; grandson, Harlan Baldridge of Glenwood Springs, CO; brothers, Claude Douglas of Platina, CA and Earl Douglas of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Bessie May Lefler of Grove, OK, and Stella Gierow of Hot Springs, AR; and best friend, Margaret Hilton of Los Alamos. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Baldridge; son, Gary Baldridge; sister Ella Heifner; and brother, Marshall Douglas. In 1942, Loretta Douglas married John Baldridge and was married 50 years prior to his death. Moving to Los Alamos in 1947, she was a 20-year employee of Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, where she worked as a data analyst in Groups GMX-5 and WX-1. Loretta was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Order of Amaranth in Los Alamos. She moved to Albuquerque upon her retirement in 1976. Loretta¯s selfless dedication to her family and her gentle strength gained the admiration of friends throughout the nation. She touched the hearts of many. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2000, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
