Obituary for Roam

Gordon Ellis Roam was born in Bisbee, AZ. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served on a forward observation team of Field Artillery in the European and Asian Theaters. He attended Duquesne University and the Baron Academy of Art and was a member of the Lake Worth Art League in Lake Worth, FL. He was a well known portrait painter in Palm Beach, FL and on the North Shore of Long Island, NY, and later painted the colorful people and landscapes of New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Roam; daughters, Ellen Mac Cary of Long Island, NY and D.J. Collins of Albuquerque; a son, Michael Roam; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-children, John E. Collins and his son, Clay of Albuquerque and Donna Stein and husband, John and their two children of Lake Grove, Long Island, NY; his sister, Constance Burge and her husband, Jack of Twinsburg, OH and their two daughters; his brother, Kenneth Roam of Long Island, NY; and his nephew, Daryl Burge and wife, Susan of Twinsburg, OH. Visitation will be this afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe.
