Obituary for Chavez

Mr. Johnny Chavez Sr., 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 2, 2000. Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife, Louise Chavez; one daughter, Debra J. Guirado; two sons, John Chavez Jr. and wife, Christina A., Ralph K. Chavez and Margot; a brother, Lorenzo Chavez and wife, Yela; two sisters, Bernice Schommer and husband, Greg and Ruth Contreras; grandchildren, John H. Chavez III, Antionette L., Ralph K. Jr., Raymond K., Joseph K., Jacquelynn D., and James A.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Athena Christina Chavez. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church, veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the American Legion #13, and retired Union Pacific Amtrak Railroad in 1975. A Rosary will be recited Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 9:30 a.m. Jimmy Rael reciting. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rudy Ortega, Debra J. Guirado, John Chavez Jr., Ralph K. Chavez, Tony Lucero and Lorenzo Chavez. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.
