Obituary for Hale

James Randal Hale, born April 10, 1923 at Brownfield, TX, died Thursday, December 30, 1999, after a struggle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leffel and Ethel Hale; and his sisters, Mary Francis Hale and Lauralee Towns; also infant twin brothers. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 51 years; three sons and their wives, Bruce and Glynnette, Lee and Trish, and John and Johanna; as well as ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Virginia Goza of Colorado; brothers, Clifton Hale of Texas, Jesse W. Hale of T or C, and John A. Hale of Albuquerque; and numerous other family members. Mr. Hale's early life was spent in West Texas and in Southeast New Mexico. He came to Albuquerque in 1941 to attend UNM, then he joined the Army in 1943. He was assigned to Patton's 3rd Armored Infantry, participating in the Normandy invasion at Utah Beach and manned a retriever tank during the Battle of the Bulge. After discharge from the service, he returned to Albuquerque and started work in construction. He married his bride on March 11, 1949. Later he started J.R. Hale Contracting Co., Inc. to be joined by each of his sons as they finished their education. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Two-Som Sunday School Class. Services will be held Monday, January 3, 2000, 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, corner of 4th and Lead, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield, Rev. James E. Large, and Dr. Bill Sylskar officiating. Complimentary parking will be provided by the church in the city garage across the street. Parking tickets will be validated in the church lobby. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Bruce Hale (in abstencia), Lee Hale, John Hale, James Joseph Hale, Cody Sutton, Benny Mott, and Sean Altamirano. Honorary pallbearers will be the entire Two-Som Class. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O.
