Obituary for Wagoner

Buddy D. Wagoner was born near Lance Creek, Wyoming on January 13, 1936 to Roy and Laura Wagoner. He died suddenly Sunday, January 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Derrek from Sun Valley, AZ and Ilene, their five children, Bryce, Nevada, Rietta, Elaina and Buddy Reese; a daughter, Teri from Albuquerque; son, Choc from Albuquerque and Sandy, their four children, Cody, Tyler, Mandy and Garrett; and daughter, Sheri Willcox from Milan and Claude, their two daughters, Dakota and Kacy. He is also survived by his brothers, Don and Rodney Wagoner; and sister, Arly Mack; and numerous nieces and nephews. Buddy graduated from high school in Douglas, Wyoming where he was active in sports. He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 where he received an honorable discharge. He and Carolyn Keeler, a teacher from Lewis, CO were married in August of 1958 and moved to Las Vegas, NM where he began careers in the livestock marketing business and ranching. In 1965, he founded Valley Livestock Auciton and in 1967 built a new, large facility in Albuquerque. In 1984, he purchased a livestock auction in Sun Valley, AZ and in 1986, built a livestock auction in Milan, NM where they moved in 1999. Buddy was an active 4-H leader for 15 years, president of the NM High School Rodeo Association, the PTA, and president of the Livestock Marketing Association for several years. He loved his life, family grandchildren and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Memorial Services will be Thursday, January 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley Livestock Auction, 7715 Broadway SE, in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the NM Boys and Girls Ranch at 6209 Hendrix, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 in memory of Buddy Wagoner would be appreciated.
