Obituary for Easley

Loyce R. Easley, noted New Mexico artist and wife of Mack Easley, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 20, 2002. A resident of Albuquerque since 1990, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, who served in all three branches of New Mexico government, as Chief Justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of the House of Representatives; daughter, June Hudson of Los Angeles; son, Roger Easley of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Dorothy Basolo of McAlester, OK. Loyce Anna. Eldest daughter of Thomas Webster Rogers and Anna Laura Sanders, was born in Weatherford, OK. She earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Oklahoma. She and her husband resided in Hobbs for over 40 years before moving to Santa Fe where she resided for 12 years. She was an avid student and consummate teacher of art. Her works have hung in many distinguished galleries and are included in private and public permanent collections. Services will be held Friday, January 25, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
