Obituary for Funes

Jose Funes, "Daddy, Tata, Compadre¯ Funes", 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque was taken home to the Lord on Tuesday, January 29, 2002. He is survived by the love of his life, Maria ¯Chata¯ Funes, they were married for 58 years; children, Felix Funes and wife, Patsy, Michelle Gallegos and husband, Raymond, Maryann Baca, Tony Funes and wife, Alma, Julia Garcia and husband, Sam, Santiago Funes, Clara Dixon and husband, Jim, Theresa Gomez and husband, Ernie, Raymond Funes, Alice Brito, Angel Franco and husband, Louie, Eva Clark and husband, Mark and Monica Salazar and husband, Alex and Crystal Funes; 43 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, like a son, Armando ¯Chato¯ Ortiz. His extended family included nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews in his home country of Mexico. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Felix & Angelita Funes; a son, Juan De La Cruz Funes; four brothers; one sister; and a grandson; Little Ray Gallegos. Tata will be remembered for his love and cariño that he showed to everyone. Like his patron saint, St. Joseph, he was also a carpenter and was a master at his trade. His carpentry work can be seen at St. Charles Borromeo Church and also the doors at Sacred Heart Church."Daddy" left a huge impression on everyone he met and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed. Rosary will be recited, Friday, 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover Ave. SW. Friends may visit one hour prior to Rosary at the church. Funeral service will be held, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Deacon Tom Perez officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Felitos Funes, Joey Gallegos, Louie Paul Baca, Julio Funes, Simon Garcia, Ernest Gomez, Carlos Martinez, Dominic Brito and Jeremy Clark.
