Obituary for Kiernan

William Henry Kiernan, 85, a resident of New Mexico since 1968 and of Rio Rancho since 1972, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2002. William was born February 2, 1916 the son of William H. and Elizabeth Kraft Kiernan in New York City, New York. William was a WW II combat Veteran retiring as Lt. Colonel of the US Army. After leaving the service, he joined the New York City Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant after 22 years. He was a member of the Retired Law Enforcement Officers Association.He served on the New Mexico Governor's Council on Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, and also was a Court Clerk for Bernalillo District Court. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. William was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Kay Kiernan in September of 1997. He is survived by three sons, William Hugh Kiernan of Yucaipa, CA, Wayne Kiernan of Port Washington, NY, and Kerry Kiernan of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Thomas Kiernan of Marlton, NJ; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio RAncho, with Fr. Ronald Stone as the Celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. It has been suggested that contributions be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O.
