Norman J. Flaska, age 88, died February 11, 2002 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on May 29, 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Elizabeth Gilligan and John A. Flaska Sr. Norman moved to Albuquerque in 1923 and attended St. Mary's Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, Albuquerque High and the University of New Mexico. He retired from the Corps of Engineers and served in the Field Artillery during WWII. Norman was a member of the American Legion Carlisle Bennett Post 13, B.P.O.E lodge 461, a life member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Norman is survived by his wife, Laura; his brother, Father John A Flaska Jr. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2002 from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 15, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church 1801 Coal Pl. SE. The family prefers donations be made to a charity of your choice, or St. Charles Borroemo Church 1801 Coal Pl. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is handling his arrangements.
