Obituary for Steinkraus

Edwin (Ed) Steinkraus, age 81, was born January 30, 1921 in Clovis, NM and passed away February 16, 2002 at his home in Albuquerque. He graduated from high school in Greely, CO in 1939. Ed married Eileen Sivers in 1940. Eileen preceded him in death in 1982. Ed then married Margery Myers in 1983. A resident of Albuquerque since 1954, Ed established and operated Hoffmantown Body Shop on Menaul until its sale in 1970. After the sale of the body shop, Ed sold real estate for Cactus Realty for several years. In the early 1970's Ed and Gene Sanchez formed a partnership to construct and lease Post Offices in various New Mexico cities. Ed is survived by his daughter, Nancy Ness and her husband, Erwin Ness; grandson, Craig Buchanan and his wife, Christina; granddaughter Teri Mauldin and her husband, Jeff, five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Ed is also survived by seven stepchildren and many step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary located at 1100 Coal Ave SE. A viewing will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 fro 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Ranches of New Mexico. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is handling his arrangements.
