Obituary for Zehr

Sarah Edith Heatwole Zehr, (Sally), entered the Church Triumphant on February 22, 2002, after a long fight with health problems. She was born December 11, 1914 in La Junta, CO, the 6th of seven children of Jacob Aaron Heatwole and Bertha Olive Showalter, who came to La Junta for health reasons from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in 1908. A Mennonite family, Jacob was a Mennonite Minister and Sally attended elementary and high school in Swink, CO. She married Walter Zehr on January 14, 1942 and moved to Albuquerque where they lived since that date. She was a staunch, active and beloved member of the First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque since that date. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings. She is survived by Christine Nielsen of La Junta, CO; Franklin Heatwole of Rocky Ford, CO; Dean Zehr of Washington, IL; Esther Heatwole of La Junta, CO; Rachel Zehr of Normel, IL; Earl Sweigart of Balko, OK; John Zehr of Urbana, IL; and, Elbert Heatwole of Rocky Ford, CO and their families. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE.
