Gene Martinez, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died March 2, 2002 at the age of 69. Gene served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loraine; and by his son, Joey, the love of his life. Survivors include brothers, Nick and wife, Maxine of Kenosha, WI., Richard and wife, Clara, Paul and wife, Betty; sisters, JoAnn Manley and husband, Joe, Helen Martinez and husband, Bennie all of Albuquerque; nephew, Donald Martinez and wife, Maureen of Albuquerque, who assisted Gene during the last years of his life; numerous other nephews and nieces He is also survived by his special friends and constant companions, his pets,"Mister","Little Girl", and"Jackie Lee". Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. Albuq. 505-343-8008.
