Obituary for Gilbert

Cecil Thomas Gilbert, age 79, a life-long resident of New Mexico, died March 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Alyce Gilbert of PA; daughter, Karen Gilbert of CA; sons, Richard Gilbert of AZ, Jeffery Gilbert and wife, Fatima of NM; sister, Katherine Hayes of NM; grandchildren, Mike Gilbert, Scott Gilbert, Travis Bishop, Dana Determan and Amalia Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Emma Kate Gilbert and Lucy Elizabeth Gilbert. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ernest and Julia Mae Gilbert; sister, Margarite Cartwright; daughter in-law, Carol E. Gilbert. Cecil was an alumnis of Phi Beta Kappa, UNM School of Engineering; He was a Veteran of WWII and was an Engineer for the State Highway Department and retired after 30 years of service. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Cecil Thomas Gilbert may be made to the UNM School of Engineering. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
