Obituary for Howard

In Loving Memory of Waldon A. Howard (Lt. Col. USAF, Ret.) November 12, 1922 - March 10, 2001Waldon A. Howard passed away on March 10, 2001 at the age of 78 following complications from emphysema. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Selma Geraldine Howard in 1998; and a son, Martin Lee Howard in 2000. He is survived by his children, Beth Howard and husband, Dennis of Edgewood, NM, Randall Howard and wife, Phyllis of Edgewood, NM, Shelley Howard and husband, Ed of Wylie, TX and Ann Gutierrez and husband, Ofie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jessica Sisko of North Brunswick, NJ, Jasmine Wanner of Wylie, TX and Trish and Lee Gutierrez of Albuquerque; brothers, William Howard and wife, Patricia of Houston, TX and Gayle Van Horne and wife, Jo of Greenville, TX. He is also survived by special family friends, Donald Nickerson, Yolanda de Oro and Diane Gutierrez. The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers at Special Live-In Care, Inc. and all of his care providers at the VA Hospital who provided such wonderful care during his illness. Waldon had a fulfilling career with the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1971 after 27 years of service. He served in the capacity of Bombardier, Navigator, Arsenal Advisor and Nuclear Weapons Officer, traveling all over the world. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, cabinetry, and jewelry making. Graveside Services and interment were held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on March 14, 2001. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors in charge.
