Obituary for Reid

Alexander W. Reid, Jr., 79, a resident of lbuquerque, was gathered up by his Father in heaven on Thursday, March 7, 2002. Alex was born August 2, 1922 the son of Alexander W. and Veronica Bertha Bunge Reid in East St. Louis, Illinois. He joined the Navy in 1941 and survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. He was stationed on the USS Pennsylvania. He married Elvira Zaremski in Chicago, Illinois in 1953. Prior to retirement he was the owner of Ark Security for commercial and residential alarm systems. He spent several years in Yellowstone Park and enjoyed traveling around the country. He loved the outdoors, loved fishing and had a passion for playing tennis. Alex was also an avid ham radio operator. He was preceded in death by his parents. Alex is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elvira of Albuquerque; two sons, Alex Reid III and wife, Valerie of Huntington Beach, CA, and Philip Reid and wife, Cathy of Clovis, CA; grandchildren, Danielle and Aaron and Jonathan all of Clovis, CA. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowalrk Ln., Rio Rancho. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, 892-9920.
