Obituary for Esquibel

Gregorio Esquibel, 47, community activist, talk show host, and music producer went home to our Lord on March 15, 2002. He called himself the "Little Fat Guy" on his well-known and sometimes controversial morning "Town Hall Meeting" radio program. Gregorio was born in Ranchos de Taos, graduated from West Mesa in 1973, and served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned a meritorious promotion and an honorable discharge. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and billiards, but his passion was the promotion and preservation of "New Mexico" music. He is survived by his mother, Eloisa Esquibel; four sisters; and three brothers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leandro Esquibel; and his grandparents. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at St. Therese Little Flower Church. The Burial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, Located on 4th Street, between Menaul and Candelaria. Gregorio will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Metropolitan Direct Burial, 729 San Mateo, NE, is handling the arrangements.
