Obituary for Lucero

Joe G. Lucero, age 83, beloved and devoted companion, father, grandfather, and brother, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord, Monday, March 18, 2002. Joe was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque; a parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; he was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served his country in the European, African Middle Easter theater of operations during World War II. He is survived by Evangeline Sanchez, Yolanda Dittemore; two daughters, Margaret Armijo and husband, John, Rosemary Lucero; one son, Joseph Lucero; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are one sister, Lucy Horner of Albuquerque; two brothers, Elias Lucero and wife, Rose also of Albuquerque, Louie Lucero and wife, Lizzie of Raton, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at San Carlos Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Rudy Lucero, Ronnie Lucero, Orlando Olivas, Joe Sanchez, John Armijo, John West, and Pete Sanchez. Funeral Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th Street NW.
