Obituary for Griego

James (Jimmy) Griego Sr., 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on March 24, 2002. James is survived by his wife of 30 years, Priscilla; sons, James Richard Griego, James Griego Jr. and wife, Maxine of El Paso, Texas, Fred Griego and wife, Carol, Frank Tafoya and wife, and Michael Griego of Ca.; daughters, Patricia Montano and husband, Richard, Cathy Joe Sims, Bernadette Grinbank and husband, Mariano; brothers, David Griego and wife, Isolina, Fred Griego and wife, Rosella; sisters, Lucy Huizar and husband, Jack, Mary Saiz and husband, Charlie, Annabelle Chavez and husband, Freddie and Dolores Rottach. James was a loving and devoted grandfather to seven grandsons and five granddaughters; he is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James is preceded in death by his parents, Donaciano and Mary Griego; brothers, Michael, Abelino, David Jr., Jessie and a sister, Helen Duran. James was a member of the Catholic Church. A viewing will be Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final viewing will be Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Joel Garner. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, David Griego, Fred Griego, Charlie Saiz, Richard Montano, Mariano Grinbank and Edmundo Duran. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.
