Obituary for Hinman

Charles Edward Hinman, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Doris Hinman; daughters, Kay Kitts and husband, Jim of Albuquerque, Joyce Coffey and husband, Bill of Rock Springs, WY; grandchildren, Tracey Kitts and wife, Koger of Albuquerque, Jolene Reed and husband, David of Snowhomish, WA, Jodie Guerin and husband, John of Laramie, WY, Teri Coffey of Las Vegas, NV and Brian Coffey and Ann of Tucson, AZ; and great-grandchildren, Shepherd and Tucker Guerin and Trent Kitts. Mr. Hinman was preceded in death by his parents, Violet Grace Gibson and George Alanzo Hinman. He was born on August 4, 1907 in Green River, UT. He married Doris F. Hemphill on August 14, 1933 in Aspen, CO. He was a graduate of Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, CO in 1938, with a degree in education. Mr. Hinman was an educator for over twenty years teaching at Amache, CO WRA Japanese Internment Camp and the Albuquerque Indian School. His passion was his music, photography, camping and his family. He will be remembered as a kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a 70-year plus member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hinman was an active member of the Walley Byam Airstream Travel Trailer club holding the office as president as well as many other offices during his membership years. He traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii. Cremation has taken place and a Masonic memorial service and celebration of life will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at Temple Lodge No. 6, 3801 Osuna NW, with William H. Gleason, Jr., P.M. officiating. His cremains will be scattered at the family plot in Glenwood Springs, CO at a later date. The family wishes to thank all staff members at Vista del Rio and Sandia Hospice for their loving care.
