Obituary for Berger

Lyle Rae Berger, born July 1, 1945, lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Lyle spent her life doing the things she loved and was respected and loved by those who knew her. She approached her death with the same peace and character that exemplified her life and died at home on March 28, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, J. Scott Altenbach; his son, Chris; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; and grandson, Scott Anders Altenbach. She is also survived by her parents, Lyle Raymond and Louise Dorothy Berger; her brother, Scott Pawnee Berger; his son and daughter, Dustin and Brooke all of Albuquerque. Also surviving is her brother, Terry Alan and her sister-in-law, Leslie Berger; and their daughter, Blair of Newark, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made in Lyle Rae's name to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Pl. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., 810 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10102-0103. A Memorial will be held at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in the greenhouse of the Department of Biology (in Castetter Hall, west of Yale Mall, on the south end of the main UNM campus, signs will be posted), on Sunday, April 7, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
