Obituary for Buell

Leonard K "Bud" Buell Lt. Colonel, USA (Retired), 71, a resident of Albuquerque New Mexico for 27 years died March 27, 2002 at his home in Northeast Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Chloe"Virginia" Buell; son, Brett K Buell and wife, Sandra Buell; daughter, Dorothy Melloy and husband, Bill Melloy; grandson, Justin Melloy and granddaughter, Chloe Melloy all of Albuquerque; brothers, Raymond and Clyde both of Helena Montana, Arthur of Indianapolis Indiana and brother-in-law, Duaine Marcotte of Great Falls Montana. Colonel Buell was born January 19, 1931 in Augusta Montana to Albert and Marchie Buell. He attended school at Augusta, MT and graduated from Montana State University in 1953. He entered the U.S. Army at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas in October 1953. He served tours in Korea, twice in Germany, Panama and Vietnam, and at various posts across the United States; his final assignment was as troop commander Brook Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston Texas. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and three Army Commendation awards. Colonel Buell retired from the Army in 1976 and moved his family to Albuquerque. After retirement, he worked for Albuquerque Public Schools, Louis J. Vener Law Offices and was a docent at the Rio Grande Zoo. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Graveside services will be held Wednesday April 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE are in charge of arrangements.
