Obituary for Watts

Marvin Corliss Watts, Sr., 61, a native of Mountainair, NM and a longtime resident of Yoder, WY died suddenly in the late evening of April 1, 2002, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE. A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the River of Life Church in Torrington, WY, with Pastor Jerry Hackett officiating. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM with Pastors Jerry Hackett and Nathan Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountainair Cemetery. Marvin was born to O.T. (Bud) and Virginia M. Watts on August 17, 1940 in Mountainair, NM. Marvin spent his younger years in Old Mexico and New Mexico. He graduated from Mountainair High School in 1959. On June 26, 1959 he married Peggy Jones of Mountainair, NM. Together with their children they resided in Kansas City, MO, St Francis, KS eventually settling in Yoder, WY. Recently Marvin and wife Peggy had traveled back to Mountainair, NM with plans of wintering in the warmer climate. He retired from Consolidated Freightway after 26 years of service. Marvin was an active Board Member of the River of Life Church in Torrington, WY. He also participated in the Fort Laramie Rifleman's Club. Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sharing the great outdoors with his family. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Yoder, WY; sons, Marvin Watts Jr. of Denver, CO, James Watts and wife, LaDawn of Harrisburg, NE, James Kanniard of Yoder, WY, Duane Watts and wife, Sandra of Estancia, NM and daughter, Lenna and husband, Donald Booth of Scottsbluff, NE; brothers, and sisters-in-law, Gary and Diane Watts and Orville and Doreen Watts all of Mountainair, NM; one uncle, Jimmy Corliss and his wife, Dorothy of Mountainair, NM; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Virginia Watts and his grandparents, A.O. (Jack) and Lenna Corliss and I.G. and Lillie McKinley. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM 847-2331.
