Obituary for Naffziger

Leon L. Naffziger, 65, a resident of Rio Rancho, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 after complications due to liver disease. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sue Defnet of the family home; two children, Mark Naffziger and wife, Martha of Zion, IL. and Angela Kae Green and husband, Tom of Florham Park, NJ; two stepchildren, Robert Defnet and partner, Roger Vella of Australia and Thomas Defnet and wife, Kris of Denver, CO. He is also survived by four grandchildren; and two sisters, Rachel Jessen of Louisville, TN and Della McGarrahan of Maryville, TN. Leon was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; and one sister, Dolores Woodworth. Leon was born in Zion, IL. He was the third child in a family of four. He attended N. Illinois State University at DeKalb, IL where he received his degree. Leon was married to his first wife, Shirley for 28 years, when she died of cancer. He married Sue Defnet in 1989. Leon was a member of the National Buick Association and owned his 19th Buick. He was a very proud representative of the Geiger Brothers of Lewiston, Maine, a business he and his wife, Susan enjoyed working together. Leon loved his family, ice cream, selling everything and telling funny stories. He was a man of vast knowledge who enjoyed sharing. Leon always left an appointment with the salutation of Peace. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, at 3:00 p.m. with pastor, Carl Soderberg officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Presbyterian Hospital, 4th floor and Dr. Volpicelli for their special kindness and care given to Leon.
