Obituary for Perkins

Paul C."Butch" Perkins, 62, died on April 9, 2002 in Decatur, IL Memorial Hospital. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2002 at New Salem Baptist Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m. prior to services and 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Pathways to Independence or New Salem Baptist Missionary Society. Mr. Perkins was born February 17, 1940 in Waterloo, IA the son of Claude and Joe Willie (Childress) Perkins, Sr. He married Patricia Hill June 15, 1968 in Oakland, CA. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the U.S. Army, graduated from Millikin University, Decatur Leadership Institute and retired from ADM as Director of Labor Relations in July, 2001. He was a mentor with Decatur Public Schools, Junior Achievement Advisor, recently involved in training at ADM, and was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife; three children, Jeffery Perkins, Waterloo, IA, Deron Perkins and wife, Erin, Springfield, Brent Perkins, Decatur; special son, George Calfas, Lillington, NC; three brothers, Claude Perkins, Jr. and wife, Lillie, Waterloo, IA, Donald Perkins and wife, Linda, Albuquerque, Rev. William C. Perkins and wife, Rose, Waterloo, IA; two sisters, Gwendolyn Schauf and husband, Charles, Waterloo, IA, Beverly Cook, Waterloo, IA; mother-in-law, Bennie Hill, Decatur and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy; and one brother, Ronald.
