Obituary for Compton

Collette Clara Compton, 88, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Compton; brothers, August Clemens and Joseph Arthur Von Boeselager; sisters, Mary Gabrielle Doll, Frances Elizabeth Riha and Beatrice Lawrence. She is survived by sons, John Robert and William Joseph Compton and wife Susan; granddaughters, Sheri Lorraine and Christine Marie Compton; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her XOXOs. Collette was an active member of Aquinas Newman Center. Whether it was donuts or flowers, she was happy to serve. The fellowship at the Newman Center was an important part of her life. She established Collettes Flower Shop in the garage at the family home in 1955, and expanded to the existing shop on Goff Road. She retired in 1976 and still loved working the holidays with all the Collettes Flower Shop staff. She was a member of both the Albuquerque Florist Society and the Soroptimist Club for many years. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, UNM Campus, with Father Robert Keller, O.P. and Father Matthew Strabala, O.P., Con-Celebrant. Parking is available near the Newman Center at the ROTC building, 701 Yale NE, Lot C. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
