Obituary for Contreras

Mr. Elfego Contreras, 81, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2002. Mr. Contreras is preceded in death by his wife, Anita; his parents, Juan Jose and Encarnacion Contreras; sisters, Vivian and Gertrude; and a brother, Manuel. Mr. Contreras is survived by a daughter, Ramona Chavez and husband, Joe; sons, Elfie Contreras and wife, Carmen, Ronald Contreras and Kathy Garcia and John Contreras all of Albuquerque. He is survived by nine loving grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ramancita Trujillo of Belen, Polly Campbell and husband Joaquin of Ca., Rose Morales and Bill of Corrales. Mr.Contreras was a member of the Catholic Church, the D.A.V. and American Legion Post 100, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Church of Ascension, 2150 Raymac SW. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Ascension by Father Savilla. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.
