Ruth I. Chapin Shelton "Nanny." 99, a resident of Albuquerque for 46 years, passed away on May 13, 2002. She is survived by 2 daughters, Marilyn Martinez and husband, Charles of Michigan and Madeline Christiansen and husband, William of Florida; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1985; two sons, Wendell and Neale Derickson and one granddaughter, Diane. She was a member of the Monte Vista Christian church. Ruth raised four children alone during the middle of the Depression and also supported her family as a Seamstress and enjoyed furniture upholstery. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Cremation will take place and graveside services will be held on Saturday at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton, NM.
