Obituary for Del Valle

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 09, 2002

Irene D. Del Valle. We are deeply saddened and moved by the unfortunate passing of Irene Del Valle. Irene was born on September 29, 1921 in Juarez, Mexico and died May 31, 2002 in Albuquerque. She was the widow of Lt. Col. Salvador Del Valle. Irene was a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, sister, teacher, cook, scholar, devout Catholic and friend. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She had traveled the world and as a young girl even drove Clark Gable's car. Her immense love for her family and friends was paramount in her life. She is survived by three children, Joseph A. Del Valle, R. Stephen Del Valle, DDS, and Anita Del Valle as well as four grandchildren, Javier A. Martinez and Marissa Martinez, Pvt. Joseph A. Del Valle and Justin A. Del Valle; also her sisters and brothers; Moy, Hans, Hector, Armida, Josie, and Kena. Although we shall miss the wonderful smells wafting from her kitchen and the love she gave unconditionally, this tragic loss is eased by knowing Irene is at peace with God. She was laid to rest at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
