Obituary for Lopez

Martina C. Lopez, a resident of Albuquerque went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2002. Martina was born in Veguita, NM on April 11, 1939. She had worked as a housekeeper for the VA Hospital for over 30 years. Martina was known for her incredible cooking and she enjoyed pleasing her family with her creations. She loved gardening, was a member of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church and will be fondly remembered for her kindness towards others. Martini is survived by her cherished husband of over 40 years, Lazaro Lopez; beloved son, Lee and wife, Josie; sister, Fida Torrez; brother, Arturo Torrez all of Albuquerque; cousins, Phillip Torrez and Lorraine Garcia of Albuquerque, Ellie Vargas and Molly Vargas of San Diego; brothers-in-law, Aladino Lopez and Solio Lopez of Albuquerque; nephews, Bobby, Manuel, Albert and Frank C de Baca, Ray Hoogerhuis and wife, Louise; nieces, Nadine Ludi and Janet C de Baca. A Visitation for Martina will be held in the Chapel of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd., on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited by Joe Baca at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 14, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho, with Msgr. Douglas Raun as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Albert and Bobby C de Baca, Phillip Torrez, Mark Garcia, Steve Ludi, and Art Lopez. Services under the care of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho (891-9192).
