Obituary for Chavez

Jose B. Chavez, age 75, and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque died June 10, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Gregoria Chavez of NM; daughters, Elvira Cadena of TX, Linda S. Montano and husband, Joseph of NM; son, Dickie Chavez and wife, Evelyn of NM; sister, Stella Smith and husband, Marvin of WY; grandchildren, Robert Garcia, Veronica Garcia, Christopher Chavez, Gabriel Cadena, Anthony Chavez, Joseph Montano IV and Gabrielle Montano; three great-grandchildren. Jose was a proud WWII Veteran devoted to his family and a Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed western songs and anything related to the west, Jose was a great storyteller. He retired from the VA hospital after 35 years of service and served as Presiding Judge for elections in the Bel-Air District for 20 years. Jose was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2002 with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2002 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Joseph Montano III, Joseph Montano IV, Robert Garcia and Gabriel Cadena. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors is entrusted to the care of Jose.
