Obituary for Rhoads

James Rhoads, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vadis Rhoads of the family home; two sisters, Geneva James and Mary Matheny, and their families all of Ohio; and a niece, Caroline Antill of England. Mr. Rhoads was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Rhoads. He was a 2nd Lieutenant Army veteran serving during WWII. Mr. Rhoads was a member of the 41st Armored Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armored Division"Hell on Wheels". He participated in the invasion of North Africa, Sicily and Normandy, and onto Berlin. Graveside services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Animal Humane Association of NM, Inc., 615 Virginia SE, 87108.
